Organizers say the event aims to celebrate the group’s long-standing association with California culture while promoting health, community engagement and environmental awareness.

A new community fitness and music event inspired by The Beach Boys will debut May 16 in Santa Monica, organizers announced, combining a 5K run, wellness activities and live entertainment to mark the 60th anniversary of the band’s landmark album Pet Sounds.

The Beach Boys 5K & Wellness Day is scheduled to take place along the city’s 3rd Street Promenade, with events beginning at 9 a.m. Organizers say the event aims to celebrate the group’s long-standing association with California culture while promoting health, community engagement and environmental awareness.

The festival will feature a community 5K race, a VIP race option, a virtual 5K and a pet-friendly “Pooch Run,” alongside fitness experiences and live music. Registration fees vary by event tier, with general 5K entry priced at $68.10 and VIP participation at $145.89, according to event details.

Organizers have partnered with the Surfrider Foundation, encouraging participants to support ocean conservation efforts through donations during registration. Proceeds will contribute to initiatives focused on water quality, plastic pollution reduction, beach access and climate solutions.

The event is part of a broader celebration running from May 16 through May 24, with additional activities and prize drawings planned. Volunteers are also being recruited to assist with event operations.
