Two New Exhibitions, “Natural Death” and “Salon des Amis”, Open at ARCANE Space

“Natural Death” examines grief, loss and the cycles of nature, while “Salon des Amis” draws from personal struggles with substance use and mental health.

ARCANE Space will present two exhibitions exploring themes of mortality, grief and the human interior experience, with one show opening this weekend and another reaching its final days.

The group exhibition “Natural Death” opens Saturday, June 6, with a reception from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and runs through July 12. Curated by Rino Kodama and Dav Bell, the show features work by 13 artists: Noura Alhariri, Anne Beck, Dan Clauson, Cirilo Domine, Rosemary Hall, Cat Lauigan, Jas Lin, Jules Pierce, yétúndé ọlágbajú, taisha paggett, Laurie Palmer, Grace Potter and Sarita Doe.

The exhibition, which debuted at the Mendocino Art Center in November 2025, examines grief, loss and the cycles of nature through various artistic practices. Organizers describe it as a meditation on mortality and how people turn to art to process profound emotional experiences.

Separately, the gallery is hosting “Salon des Amis,” featuring paintings by Doris La Frenais. The show closes with a reception on Friday, May 30. La Frenais’ work draws from her personal struggles with substance use and mental health, moving between moments of unease and stillness in expressive, frenetic brushwork.
