California Restaurant Show to Focus on AI, Food Safety and Industry Challenges

Several sessions will focus specifically on how restaurants are adapting to changes in customer behavior and technology. One panel will examine how AI-powered search tools, including ChatGPT, are influencing where consumers choose to dine.

Artificial intelligence, food safety regulations, labor issues and shifting consumer habits will be among the topics discussed at this year’s California Restaurant Show, organizers announced Wednesday.

The annual trade show, scheduled for Aug. 23-25 at the Anaheim Convention Center, will feature more than 40 hours of educational programming aimed at restaurant owners, managers, chefs and hospitality professionals.

Organizers said the conference agenda reflects some of the most significant issues currently facing the restaurant industry, including the growing influence of artificial intelligence on marketing and customer discovery, compliance with new food allergy regulations, profitability challenges and the impact of GLP-1 weight-loss medications on consumer dining habits.

Several sessions will focus specifically on how restaurants are adapting to changes in customer behavior and technology. One panel will examine how AI-powered search tools, including ChatGPT, are influencing where consumers choose to dine, while another will explore how operators are using artificial intelligence to improve efficiency and generate revenue.

Food safety and regulatory compliance are also expected to be major themes. Conference sessions will address California’s evolving food allergy requirements and emerging food safety practices.

In addition to educational seminars, the event will include workshops on restaurant management, leadership development and financial performance. A separate full-day workshop will focus on operational systems designed to improve restaurant profitability.

The show’s culinary programming will feature demonstrations, chef competitions and appearances by prominent figures in the food industry, including restaurateur and television host Tyler Florence and restaurateur Drew Nieporent.

Organizers said more than 225 exhibitors are expected to showcase food products, equipment, technology and services for restaurant operators.
