Another Successful Garden Tour in Venice: Venice Garden Walk Raised Funds for Kids

The 18th Annual Venice Garden Tour brought in people from all over on Saturday afternoon.

The tour featured 31 homes and gardens that were modern, vintage or redesigned. The gardens featured were around or on top of houses.

“It’s a different type of garden tour because we’re not big huge gardens, big huge yards,” event producer Barbara Baumann said, “we’re what you do in intimate spaces.”

The small spaces showed artistic architecture combined with beautiful, blooming flowers. Baumann said people came from all over the United States, from Brooklyn to Arizona.

“After 18 years, this event is very branded,” Baumann said. “It’s a very well-known event in southern California.”

The proceeds generated from the event’s ticket sales will once again go to the Neighborhood Youth Association’s Las Doradas Center. Last year the event raised $250,000, but Baumann did not have a total by press time.

NYA executive director Amanda MacLennan said they count on this event for most of the Center’s funding.

“This means I can support my incredible teachers that are taking care of these students,” MacLennan said.

The Center has a 100 percent high school graduation rate and prides itself on having its graduates be the first in their families to do so.
