Santa Monica Albertson’s Market Murder Suspect Booked, Arraignment Set For Friday Afternoon:

The estranged husband of an Albertson’s clerk fatally stabbed in Santa Monica on Sunday was booked for murder on Wednesday and is scheduled to be arraigned at the LAX courthouse Friday afternoon.

Kelvin Green, 54, of Los Angeles, allegedly entered the Albertson’s Market at 3105 Wilshire just before 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

He allegedly stabbed Christina Talley, 46 of Los Angeles, between 20 and 30 times at her checkout stand while she was working. Talley succumbed to her wounds in a hospital at 2:22 a.m. Monday.

At 7:30 a.m. Monday, Santa Monica detectives discovered Green had been checked into the Miracle Mile Medical Center in Los Angeles for an unrelated medical condition, possibly drug related, after a 911 call was made.

Officers stayed with Green at the medical center until he was released into police custody on Wednesday afternoon. He was immediately taken to the Santa Monica Police Station and booked for murder at 4:20 p.m. Wednesday.

SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis said if convicted, Green could face life in prison since he has been incarcerated before.

“I know he has prior incidents with the victim, so all that will be a determining factor as to what it is the (District Attorney) seeks,” Lewis said.

Talley had a criminal protective order issued against Green, which was valid at the time of the murder, Lewis said.
