Celebrate Chinese New Year At Santa Monica Place:

Today marks the start of the Chinese New Year – the Year of the Horse. Santa Monica Place will host six days of celebrations.

The Year of the Horse will be celebrated over six days at Santa Monica Place with a comprehensive schedule of events for today’s start of the Chinese New Year.

Chinese New Year, sometimes referred to as the Lunar New Year, is one of the most important traditional Chinese holidays. Houses are swept and thoroughly cleaned before the date of the new year to rid the home of last year’s bad luck and make way for the new year’s fortune.

To celebrate, Santa Monica Place will feature entertainment and presentations based on authentic Chinese traditions this and next weekend.

In addition, the Chinese New Year celebration will have food tastings by Santa Monica Place restaurants and Mandarin-speaking greeters.
