Food, Music and Family Fun in Venice: Don’t Miss the Abbot Kinney Festival Today

Musicians perform at Abbot Kinney Festival 2008

The 26th annual Abbot Kinney Festival will be held on Sunday, September 26, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The free festival stretches along Abbot Kinney Blvd., between Venice Blvd. and Main St., and features local artisans, live music, and family entertainment.

Highlights of this year’s festival include “The Food Rendezvous,” a gathering of food lovers, which focuses on locally produced artisan food products and will include tastings, demos, displays, and talks by local artisans, chefs, farmers, and food writers. It will take place at The Electric Lodge.

For those who want to become more eco-conscious while also having fun, Global Inheritance will offer a bike-powered video game station, free charging of cell phones, iPods, and digital cameras with an ‘energy see-saw,” and a slew of additional family-friendly demos.

Children will have the most fun on Westminster Ave., where 32 booths will offer ticketed and free activities for children and their parents.

Proceeds from sponsorships, booth exhibitor fees, official merchandise, and event concessions benefit the AKFA Community Grants Program.

The festival attracts nearly 150,000 people annually. For more information, visit www.abbotkinney.org.
