Four local artists staged a show to raise awareness and money for the National Parkinson’s Foundation at Randy Ball’s Blue 7 Gallery on Pico Boulevard November 8 through 10.
The exhibit/sale featured the work of Santa Monica photographer Rick Boston, the Grand Prize winner of the Los Angeles Times annual amateur photography contest (but not for the haunting photograph show at right). Also featured were the pen and ink and watercolors of Pacific Palisades artist Barbara Freed, herself a victim of Parkinson’s Disease, whose whimsical storytelling images have sometimes edgy messages.
The abstract oils on canvas by Glendale’s Kevin Fougerousse deal with color in a pleasing way, often on square-formatted canvases. The showing was completed with the photography of Santa Monican Cathleen Crone, who curated the exhibit—her abstract landscapes of motorcycle machinery explored the surfaces and angles of the machines from different perspectives.
