Woman Hasn’t the Dough to Pay for Sandwich: APB: The Price Of A Sandwich

On Friday, March 25, at 12:20 p.m., officers went to Santa Monica Place in response to a report of a woman who was disturbing a business and refusing to leave. Upon arrival, the officers spoke with the security guard at the location who pointed them in the direction of this woman. The officers also learned that this woman had entered the Ugo Café and requested a sandwich and a drink. Upon being informed of the price for these items the woman had had something of a fit, yelling obscenities and threatening to assault the employee (must have been a very, very expensive sandwich).

The employee had been able to escort the woman out of the premises and lock the door and request security attendance. The woman, however, remained at the door and would not leave (still hungry, one assumes). The officers told the woman that she would have to leave the location, but she refused, so she was arrested and charged with trespassing. She also had two outstanding warrants. Her bail was set at $10,250.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com
