Brentwood Impressive In Another Victory:

A long ride and windy conditions hampered Brentwood’s football team in its only loss of the season three weeks ago. But on Saturday the Eagles overcame similar conditions.

The first time Brentwood lost to Mojave High, 14-0. The second time Brentwood defeated Lucerne Valley, 37-14.

Lucerne Valley is located 25 miles from Big Bear.

Kevin Zamasaki scored three touchdowns for Brentwood, giving him seven in the last two games. He gained 210 yards in 33 carries before sitting out the fourth quarter.

“It was so windy we gave up the idea of passing pretty early in the game except for one around the 50-yard-line near the end of the half that was returned for a touchdown,” said Brentwood Coach Patrick Brown.

“Lucerne Valley is a passing team and stayed with it. We had three interceptions.”

Brent Hansen-Ashkar returned from an injury and scored two Brentwood touchdowns. He had a one-yard TD run and six-yard TD pass reception as the Eagles improved their record to 3-1, all in non-league games. Two of the premier running backs in the CIF’s lower divisions will match up Friday when Yamazaki and Brentwood travel to Malibu and Miles Edman.
