Madison Theater Is Topped Off Monday:

The last steel beam of the Madison Project of Santa Monica College’s 541-seat visual and performing arts center was hoisted up and placed on Monday, October 10, 2005, to the applause and cheers of a crowd of about 50 officials and residents.

Madison Project Director Dale Franzen, Interim SMC President Thomas J. Donner, Malibu Mayor Andy Stern, the project architect, Renzo Zecchetti, and members of the steel construction crew all signed the beam before it was put in place.Construction of the theater complex, at 11th Street and Santa Monica Boulevard, on the site of the Madison school in Santa Monica, began the first of this year and is expected to open in early 2007.
