Santa Monica’s Main Street is giving a Party Extravaganza to celebrate the holidays, on Saturday, December 3.
Each of over 45 businesses on Main will give its own party, with holiday beverages, snacks, sweets and door prizes and more.
Most of the parties will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. but some will start earlier and some will continue beyond 9. (Check www.mainstreetsm.com for specifics.)
The traditional Main Street tree lighting ceremony will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday on the lawn of the California Heritage Museum, 2612 Main, at Ocean Park Boulevard. The Samohi Choir, the Off Their Jingle Bell Rockers and the Caroling Company will perform and Santa — the real one — will appear in a custom-made suit from Gigi Block Designs at Uroborus.
After the tree lighting, the Choir, Rockers, Caroling Company and Santa will stroll down Main, performing as they go.
People will have a chance to win prizes by participating as judges in the third annual Main Street window decorations contest, as the judging ballot doubles as a raffle entry.
Last year the public gave first prize to Fito, and second prize to B.NY. Fito also took top honors in 2003.
Ballots are available on the Main Street website and at some stores, and will be available at the Tree Lighting ceremony.
Judging began last Friday and ends at 10 p.m. on December 3.
On Sunday, December 4, the Victorian will serving Channukah latkes at its booth at the Main Street Farmer’s Market between 9:30 a.m. and 1p.m.
