The American Red Cross of Santa Monica and the Santa Monica Fire Department are co-sponsoring the “KABC 7 Spark of Love/Share the Holidays – Santa Monica” annual toy drive that benefits local low-income children and families and Hurricane Katrina victims.
Unwrapped, new gifts to be distributed to children who might otherwise receive no presents may be dropped off at the Red Cross, 1450 11th Street in Santa Monica during business hours, Monday through Friday, and daily and weekends at all SMFD fire stations.
According to Jerry Washington, Director of Volunteers and Youth Services for the Santa Monica, “Teenagers are most in need of gifts this year. Gift certificates to Best Buys, Barnes and Noble, Borders, Circuit City, Footlocker and other major retailers are especially appreciated.””We are depending on generous contributions from individuals, families and corporations in our community to once again support this important annual event,” Washington said. Businesses or organizations that would like to collect donated toys should contact Washington at (310) 394-3773, ext. 112 during normal business hours.
