Sophomore lefthander Tyler Skaggs pitched a complete game two-hitter and struck out 11 batters on Tuesday, April 24 as Santa Monica High defeated Morningside 7-0 in an Ocean League baseball game.
Skaggs, considered a bright prospect when he made the Vikings’ varsity last season as a freshman, walked only two batters.
Bryan Eyler, Diego Valdez and Vince Lawrence each drove in two runs.
The teams played again two days later and Samohi won, 17-1, as Devon Ramirez struck out 11 in six innings and Eyler had four RBI.
Samohi has a 17-7 record and is 6-0 in league play. In other Westside baseball, Malibu High has a 3-3 record in the Frontier League after splitting two games with Nordhoff, a 17-8 win and 6-5 loss. The Sharks are 6-13 overall.
