Taste of Santa Monica, September 14, noon-4pm, $10-$40, Santa Monica Pier, Tasteofsantamonica.com

Where else can you sample the best gourmet dishes from 40 local restaurants? Come to Taste of Santa Monica and nosh on specialties from Bubba Gump, Buddha’s Belly, Duke’s Malibu, i Cugini, Ma K’ai Lounge, The Lobster, and many more. There will also be music by Route 66, the group (the end of Route 66, the highway, is at the Pier!), giveaways, and an “interactive ice cream lab.”

World Festival of Sacred Music, September 13-28

Multiple Locations, festivalofsacredmusic.org.WFSM-LA is not a radio station but rather the acronym for this two-week multi-location music event, comprising 41 performances by musical artists and groups from around the world. Opening night takes place at UCLA’s Royce Hall with a lineup of artists from India, Portugal, Iran, and the U.S. Closing night will be on the Santa Monica beach. Other artists appearing include String Theory, Prince Diabate, Lesa Terry and the Women’s Jazz Orchestra, and the Pasadena Scottish Pipes and Drums Ensemble.
