Police Seek Gang Suspect in Murder On Abbot Kinney:

A man was shot and killed on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice Sunday night, September 28, in what the Los Angeles Police Department has called “gang retaliation.”

The victim, 31-year-old Adam Pacheco, was standing on the sidewalk in front of the “Otheroom” bar at 1201 Abbot Kinney Boulevard at 9:25 p.m. when an unidentified Hispanic male “walked up to Pacheco and shot him several times with a medium caliber pistol,” according to an LAPD report. “Victim Pacheco was a local gang member,” said the report.

Pacheco was taken to UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:12 p.m.

A second victim, a 55-year-old black woman, was struck in the face by a bullet, transported to a local hospital, treated, and released. The LAPD reports that this bullet was “probably fired by the suspect” and “intended for Victim Pacheco.”

LAPD detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for the shooting. The suspect is described as 18-19 years old, 5-foot-7, and 170 pounds. After the shooting, he reportedly fled east on San Juan Avenue and “got into a white, possible Dodge, Durango and was last seen southbound on Electric Avenue,” police said.
