Baseball Roundup:

Palisades High has been the dominant team in Western League baseball in recent years but Venice, with a 7-0 non-league record, appeared to be the favorite this season.

However, when the teams played at the end of March and beginning of April it was Palisades that scored a pair of shutout wins.

Jon Moscot pitched a 4-0 victory in a Palisades home game and three days later the Dolphins won again, this time at Venice, 5-0.

In the first win Josh Korn had two RBI.

Palisades also defeated Ventura in a non-league game and has a 7-6 record.

St. Monica won a Camino Real League game from Cathedral, 4-2 to even its overall record at 5-5.

Jose Munoz is batting .529. Anthony Yoshinaga is batting .345 and leads the team in RBI with 11. Football star Hector Santiesteban has a .344 average.

Crossroads didn’t have any games during the past week but Co-coach Pat Armstrong scouted Hawthorne in its game at Santa Monica because the Roadrunners have a tournament game against the Cougars coming up.

New Roads didn’t have any games last week but will be playing in the Vasquez Tournament.

Pacifica Christian lost a non-league game that wasn’t on its original schedule, 4-3 to Cornerstone Christian of Camarillo, a team with a 9-0 record. The Seawolves had a 3-2 lead until the home team scored a run in the sixth inning and another in the seventh.
