St. Monica will enter the CIF baseball playoffs as the Camino Real League champion following a pair of wins over Bosco Tech last week, 4-3 at Marine Park and 4-1 on the road.Coach Jack White brought the program back from a 4-17 record last season and shortstop Jose Munoz batted .500.St. Monica and Bosco Tech were tied for first place going into the final week of the regular season.Kyle Schwan batted .400, led the team in RBI with 20 and saved several games down the stretch as a relief pitcher.Michael Redondo batted .325.The success of the baseball team is especially uplifting in view of the Mariners’ football team losing 37 consecutive games over four seasons before winning its last game in 2008.
