John McMullen, the most successful coach in the history of Santa Monica College mens basketball, will be inducted into the SMC Sports Hall Of Fame January 16.
The ceremony will take place prior to SMC’s conference game against West Los Angeles College.
In 22 years at SMC McMullen’s teams won 520 games. He has previously become a member of the Southern California Community College Hall Of Fame.
McMullen retired as the SMC coach five years ago. He came out of retirement to become an assistant at New Mexico State when his former SMC assistant Marvin Menzies became head coach there.
Now retired again, McMullen and his wife attended New Mexico State’s game against UCLA in Pauley Pavilion Tuesday night.
