SM Youth Rugby Plans Registration:

Semior guard Thea Lemberger, who has signed a letter of intent to UCLA, scored 31 points Monday as the Santa Monica High girls basketball team defeated previously undefeated Palos Verdes, 67-55 in the first round of the Redondo Tournament.

Forward Lilly Feder, who’s heading for UC San Diego, scored 17.

“Thea made four three-pointers and was five for six from the free throw line,” said Samohi coach Marty Verdugo. “She’s getting to the free throw line more often this season.”

Samohi trailed after the first quarter, 19-11 but quickly tied the game at 19 and went on to take control.

“We’ve lost in the second round of this tournament the last two years, so our next game against Serra is very important,” said Verdugo.

Samohi’s record is 4-1 in an ambitious non-league beginning to the season.
