Third Street Promenade Free Holiday Concert and Tree Lighting, December 5, 5-7pm, free, on the Third Street Promenade. Join Downtown Santa Monica and The Wave 94.7 for a free holiday concert, featuring Grammy nominated artist Brian McKnight, and his sons Brian Jr. and Niko. Border Grill Santa Monica will be serving Mexican hot chocolate and popcorn to the first 1,000 guests. Brian McKnight will also be signing copies of his new album immediately following the concert. Last but not least come see the giant Christmas tree get lit up for the season!
Santa Monica Museum of Art Presents Robie Conal in, Not Your Typical Political Animal, December 8, 6-8pm, free, Santa Monica Museum of Art, Bergamont Station 2525 Michigan Ave. To celebrate the launch of his new book Not Your Typical Political Animal, artist Robbie Conal presents an evening at the Santa Monica Museum of Art with a loosely-based animal theme! The new book includes a combination of paintings and drawings that illustrate Conal’s sharp, satirical takes on past and current events with subtle and often acutely personal portraits of his own pet cats, as well as dogs, exotic frogs, fish and fowl.
