Yes, there is a massive stone fireplace at the Miles Playhouse and audiences will be seated near the “eco-friendly java log fire,” with refreshments, to enjoy an eclectic lineup. January 7 is “Acoustic Fire,” with singer/songwriters David Poe, Amy Raasch, Dudley Saunders and Madeline Mondrala. On January 8, Michael D. McCarthy performs “Wild and Woolly Tales from My Wild and Woolly Life,” and on January 13, Fireside presents “Inside Hip Hop,” performances by Dez Hope, MC In-Q, and Open Mic Eagle, hosted by Pocho Joe with DJ Jedi.

The Fairview Branch of the Santa Monica Library presents a series of four Mexican films. The first, “Arrancame la Vida,” a romantic film set in 1930s Mexico, will be shown at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8 without English subtitles. “Alamar,” a father-son story, will screen Tuesday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m.
