The No. 8 St. Monica Mariners only had two seniors on this year’s roster, but Senior Day was still special for them.
“It’s sad,” said senior outside hitter Tanner Peach. “It seems like a month ago I was a sophomore, waiting for my Senior Day. And now here it is and it’s over.”
Peach was the reason for the Mariners’ 3-0 destruction of St. Paul on Monday. His high-flying kills made the St. Monica fans scream.
“We have one of the best hitters, if not the best hitter, in the division,” said St. Monica coach Javy Martinez. “Along with our other role players, we’re just going to take every challenge as it comes, and hopefully make it farther and earn respect for our league.”
St. Monica has one more game against Mary Star of the Sea on Wednesday before the pairings for the CIF Playoffs come out on May 8.
