SANTA MONICA – The No. 1 seeded SaMoHi Vikings were not happy when the Windward Wildcats won the second game 22-25 of Tuesday night’s CIF semifinal match.
“They shouldn’t have won,” said senior middle blocker Julian Hess.
The Wildcats tied the match at one by winning, but SaMoHi then proved they were the better team by taking the final two games to take the match 25-21, 22-25, 25-20, 25-20.
Now the Vikings are looking ahead to the CIF Finals, where they will face the San Gabriel Matadors at Cypress College on Saturday. The first serve will fly at 4 p.m.
“It feels pretty good to get that consistency and get the team togetherness to finally go to the finals,” said junior middle blocker Trevor Pye. “I think we have a really good chance of winning (the championship) because we have all those pieces.”
