J.R.’s Comedy Club Added To Earth, Wind, And Flour’s Menu:

It’s hard to get Santa Monica to laugh, but J.R.’s Comedy Club knows the trade secret: Laughter is contagious.

Hailing from a successful comedy club in Valencia, husband and wife duo Randy and Diana Lubas have decided to team up with friend and owner Dennis Klempner of Earth, Wind, and Flour to bring the Westside an evening of light-hearted comedy and, of course, on-call food and drink.

There are many pros to hosting a comedy show inside a restaurant.

The first is the full menu and complete bar on-demand the entire night, which makes the whole experience that much more enjoyable because you won’t ever be hungry or thirsty. The second is the ample parking ($2 valet) in addition to free neighborhood parking on the surrounding cross streets.

Lastly, the intimate setting of about 50 seats guarantees the option for audience participation, which is always an exciting opportunity.

The only “con” I can think of (and even so, it’s not really a con for long), is the occasional restaurant interruption from the typical unexpected sounds (dishwashing, timers, etc) that, given any other kind of performance, might be awkward – but, here, that’s the fun.

Comedians love random disturbances and, like J.R.’s caboodle, know to take advantage of the mild mishaps and turn the routine in to a customized and one-of-a-kind night.

So, if you are looking for a way to spend your night that is good, clean fun and perfect for multi generations (think kids 21+, mom, dad, and grandparents) then this is it. Check it out this weekend!

What: Dinner and show.
