Santa Monica College Best In Show Winners Named At ‘LA Mode 2012’:

Inken Brough’s evening gown tied with Samantha Safir’s burgundy shirt and top for “Best in Show” at “LA Mode 2012

Santa Monica College student Inken Brough’s structured-and-layered evening gown and Samantha Safir’s burgundy skirt and top were named Best in Show at “LA Mode 2012,” the college’s annual fashion show.

Each student won $300 for their designs that were showcased among 130 garments at “LA Mode 2012,” held Thursday, May 24 at the California Market Center Fashion Theater in downtown Los Angeles.

Brough’s evening dress was a black structural floral brocade bustier with lacing and long silk skirt made up of cascading layers. Safir’s sports outfit was a burgundy velvet skirt with feather trim and matching turtle neck top.

Altogether, $1,700 in prizes was awarded for first, second and third place in four categories: Contemporary Sportswear, Resort, Office, and Evening Wear. The winners in the four categories are:

• Contemporary Sportswear: Janet Garcia, first; Vida Behpourian and Samantha Safir, tied for second; and Yuliya Korobenyuk, third.

• Resort: Inken Brough and Natalja Sinyankovic, tied for first; Sara Norrman, second; and Svetlana Shigroff, third.

• Office: Yuliya Korobenyuk, first; Vida Behpourian, second; and Svetlana Shigroff and Inken Brough, tied for third.

• Evening Wear: Inken Brough, first; Emma Anderson, second; and Vida Behpourian, third.
