A 58-year-old homeless man is in serious, but stable condition after he was stabbed with a large knife this morning while sleeping on a bus bench in front of the Goodwill Store at 530 Santa Monica Boulevard.
Police received a call at 5:43 a.m. from a passerby who said he had found the man with a single stab wound to his back.
SMPD Sgt. Richard Lewis said there was currently no suspect or motive.
“The victim was transported to a local trauma center where he is in serious, but stable condition and cooperating with investigators,” Sgt. Lewis said.
The weapon, a large knife, has been recovered.
