On Wednesday, July 18, at 3:02 p.m. officers of the Santa Monica Police Department went to the CVS Pharmacy, located at 2505 Santa Monica Boulevard, in order to investigate a theft suspect who was in the custody of the store’s loss prevention agents.
When the officers arrived they spoke with the loss prevention agents who told them what had happened.
They said a woman had entered the store carrying her own brown bag (presumably to avoid the Santa Monica City charge for a store supplied bag?).
This woman then proceeded to scour the store for various items, including cosmetics, frozen food, and a toothbrush.
The loss prevention officers then apprehended the woman after she left the store without paying for the items; they also recovered all of the items from the brown bag.
The officers took this woman into custody under a citizen’s arrest protocol and she was charged with petty theft.
The bail for this 62-year-old Los Angeles resident was set at $1,000.
