Woman Arrested At Santa Monica Footlocker For Refusing To Leave Store: Alert Police Blotter: I Am The Owner, I Tell You!

A delusional 36-year-old Santa Monica resident was arrested after yelling, screaming, and refusing to leave the Third Street Promenade’s Footlocker store while claiming she was the owner on Thursday, Aug. 2.

Santa Monica police offers on foot patrol in the area received a radio call at 2:30 p.m. of a woman was causing a disturbance (yelling and screaming) at the store, which is located at 1327 Third Street Promenade.

When the officers arrived, they saw the woman in question standing in the middle of the store.

The officers approached this woman and she informed them that she was in fact the owner of the store and that there was an extreme amount of criminal activity going on inside the store (seems she was right on that one?).

The officers reminded this woman she was not the store owner, and that she had in fact been asked to leave the store by the manager and had refused to do so.

The officers escorted this woman outside the store at which point she stiffened up her body and began to kick out at the officers.

The officers took the woman down to the ground and handcuffed her.

She then offered more violent resistance when the officers attempted to get her into the back of a police vehicle, but the officers persevered and eventually prevailed.

This evidently delusional individual was brought back to reality when she was presented with the charges of resisting officers and refusing to leave private property.

Her bail was set at $10,000.

Editor’s Note: These reports are part of a regular police coverage series entitled “Alert Police Blotter” (APB), which injects some minor editorial into certain police activities in Santa Monica. Not all of the Mirror’s coverage of incidents involving police are portrayed in this manner. More serious crimes and police-related activities are regularly reported without editorial in the pages of the Santa Monica Mirror and its website, smmirror.com.
