A drunk 33-year-old Santa Monica woman upset about banging from the resident below her apartment was arrested on Friday, Oct. 12 after she broke the law after officers arrived.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department responded to a report of a family disturbance in the 1800 block of 10th Street at 9:45 p.m.
When the officers arrived they spoke with three people who were inside the apartment.
One of these individuals (a woman) was very, very drunk and the other two family members stated that they were attempting to “calm her down” because she had become angry after the neighbors who lived directly below them had started to bang on the ceiling.
They continued to inform the officers the banging on the ceiling had “set the woman off” (like a bomb?) and as a result of being “set off” she had begun to smash her own belongings by propelling them to the floor with great vigor, apparently in order reciprocate the banging the neighbors had been indulging in on their own ceiling.
While the officers were present at the scene, the woman exited the apartment and went into the open courtyard, thus making her eligible for being arrested for public drunkenness.
The officers arrested this woman and took her to jail, and when they arrived the woman compounded her situation by kicking a female jailor in the knee causing a minor injury.
The woman also spat on the female jailor further aggrandizing her already compounded state.
This woman, a resident of Santa Monica was charged with public intoxication and battery upon emergency personnel.
Bail was set at $20,000.
