Santa Monica Symphony Association (SMSA)’s new concert season starts this Sunday, Nov. 11 at 7:30 p.m. with its first performance of Egmont Overture by Beethoven, variations on a theme by Haydn by Brahms, and Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov.
The concert is free and it will be held at the Barnum Hall at Santa Monica High School, located at 601 Pico Boulevard.
Guido Lamell is the new conductor and music director. He is a well-regarded violinist in the Los Angeles Philharmonic who is a Santa Monica resident where he has been actively involved in the local community and school music programs.
Two more concerts will be held as part of the Symphony’s 2012/13 season. They are scheduled for Jan. 20 and May 25.
