On Thursday, February 21, at 4:45 pm officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 1800 block of 11th Street in order to investigate a domestic violence report.
After they arrived at the scene the officers spoke with the victim (the wife of the suspect) who told them that she had inadvertently scratched her husbands vehicle, and as a result an argument ensued.
The husband evidently stewed in anger during this argument and this resulted in an enraged outburst during which he struck his wife on her head and in her face many times with his clenched fist.
After this assault the husband left the scene.
The wife displayed visual signs of damage to her face that had been caused by the punches, and also told the officers that her head hurt as well.
She did not, however, accept the offer of medical assistance at that time.
Whilst the officers were at the location the husband returned and the officers arrested him without incident.
This 45-year-old man was immediately issued with a temporary domestic violence restraining order and booked for domestic violence.
Bail was set at $50,000.
