The Santa Monica College Theatre Arts Department will present Del Shores’ award-winning dramatic comedy, “The Trials and Tribulations of a Trailer Trash Housewife” this Friday, April 19 at the Theatre Arts Studio Stage on the main campus, 1900 Pico Boulevard.
The production will continue Fridays and Saturdays at 8 pm and Sundays at 2 pm through April 28.
In the play, colorful characters create a rich pattern of funny and sad glimpses into the life of Willadean, an abused “trailer trash” housewife who – from her neighbor La Sonia to the bartender Rayleen – is surrounded by “way down home” characters who accompany her as she rises from domestic violence.
It contains adult material and discretion is advised.
The play premiered in Los Angeles and won many awards from the Los Angeles Drama Critics, L.A. Stage Alliance, NAACP, Backstage West and L.A. Weekly.
