A gun violence, mental health, and community recovery forum being held at Santa Monica City Hall this morning will be streamed live online.
Congressman Henry A. Waxman, who represents Santa Monica and the westside in the 33rd District, will convene the forum, which is in response to the June 7, 2013 Santa Monica shootings.
It will be held at 10 am at Council chambers inside Santa Monica City Hall.
The forum will be open to the public, though seating will be limited.
Santa Monica Mayor Pam O’Connor, California State Senator Ted Lieu, and Zev Yaroslavsky, a member of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, will be participating in the forum.
Rep. Waxman is the Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The Committee has previously explored the issues of violence and mental health following the Newtown shooting.
Invited speakers include:
— Pamela Hyde, J.D., Administrator of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, a public health agency within the Department of Health and Human Services. The agency’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities.
— Jacqueline A. Seabrooks, Santa Monica Chief of Police
