Authorities Investigate 11th Story Fire In Barrington Plaza Complex:

Flames were isolated to two units at 11740 Wilshire Boulevard in West Los Angeles.

Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire on the 11th floor of 11700 block of Wilshire Boulevard in West Los Angeles.

The fire in the 25-story residential Barrington Plaza complex started at about 11:45 am Friday.

KTLA reports five residents, including a child, and three firefighters were treated for injuries; the child was in critical condition while the three firefighters were taken to Grossman Burn Center — two with leg burns and one with an ear burn.

According KTLA, the blaze was kept to a two-bedroom unit and knocked down in 71 minutes, with 214 firefighters responding.

NBC reports the building was completed in 1961 and was not equipped with a sprinkler system.
