The Crossroads cross country teams are having outstanding seasons. The girls went into the year seeded fourth and it appears this was valid. The boys have some freshmen that should be watched throughout their high school careers.
As far as this weeks’ competition, both the boys’ and girls’ varsity teams won the cross country meet at Brentwood School. The boys seemed to have dominated the competition with four runners finishing in the top eight and five in the top 13. However. the fifth runner from the team inadvertently cut short the final turn on the course by about three feet and had to be disqualified.
Although the Roadrunners faced a setback, the boys beat the next team, Viewpoint, by one point to claim the win. Ethan Finkel was Crossroads’ top runner coming in second, followed in short order by Scotty Belinsky and Nick Graves in fourth and sixth. Tenth grader Daniel Allen had an exceptional race to place eighth overall in a personal best time of 16:48.
The girls beat Brentwood by 11 points. Sonaali Pandiri was first, with Maisie Lynton running a spectacular race to get fourth overall. Once again, the Crossroads pack was just too strong for the other teams to handle with seven runners going across the tape before most teams had five across the line.
