It was a good day at Mt. SAC for the Roadrunners cross country team. Crossroads freshman boys, division 4 and 5 combined-Harper Peck Voll placed 18th overall in 18:56, a very fine time for a freshman. The Roadrunners freshmen team placed 10th overall and 5th among Division 5 schools.
In the sophomore boys division 4 and 5, Zev Miguel-Strah was our top finisher in 25th overall, breaking 20 minutes for the first time on the challenging Mt. SAC course. The boys team was 6th overall and first among Division 5 schools.
In the junior varsity boys race, a huge combined D4 and D5 race with over 250 finishers, Alex Carroll led the way for The Runners in 70th place in a strong 20:31. The team was 16th overall and first among D5 schools. In the varsity races, the Roadrunners’ boys and girls competed in the Division 5 Sweepstakes races with the top seeded teams in the division.
The girls, ranked 6th in the CIF Southern Section, placed 7th overall and 5th among Southern Section teams. Sonaali Pandiri led the way with an outstanding 10th place overall finish (6th place amongst Southern Section athletes). Her time of 19:15 is arguably the fastest ever by a
Crossroads girl at Mt. SAC. Maisie Lynton continued her strong season, placing second for the team in 21:20.
She was followed closely by the tight pack of Tamar Jusidman, 21:53, Andrea De Oliveria, 21:59, and Soofie Motamedi, 22:22, who ran well together to finish the scoring for the team.The boys came into the race ranked 13th in the CIF Southern Section. Despite being without the services of top 5 runner, Chase Kassel, out with an injury, the boys performed extremely well as a team, placing 9th overall and 7th among CIF Southern Section teams.
Freshman Ethan Finkel, once again led the way for the Roadrunners, clocking in at 16:45 (the fastest time ever at Mt. SAC for a Crossroads 9th grader). He was followed shortly by veterans Nick Graves and Scott Belinsky in 17:04 and 17:06 respectively. Sophomores Daniel Allen, 17:38, and Ben Fried, 18:28, both had huge personal bests. Seven teams from the CIF Southern Section qualify for the state meet at the end of November.
