FIG Restaurant To Host 2nd Annual Sausage Fest This Sunday:

FIG Restaurant inside the Fairmont Miramar Hotel will host its Second Annual Sausage Fest this Sunday, Oct. 27 with a handful of local chefs, breweries, and a live band to get into the spirit of Oktoberfest.

The event will take place from 5-8 pm.

The festivities are the brainchild of FIG executive chef Ray Garcia who said he had toyed with the idea for the past few years before holding the inaugural event on Oct. 7, 2012.

“There is always the tradition of Oktoberfest that comes around every year that’s very European and we were looking for our own way to participate in a way that’s very FIG,” Garcia said. “We like to have fun, keep it very informal, casual, and approachable.”

The event on the restaurant’s patio and around the Fairmont’s pool will feature some top chefs from around Los Angeles.

The event will consist of artisanal beers and brats prepared by a handful of partnering chefs.

The line-up includes Kris Morningstar (Rays and Stark Bar), Christian Page (Short Order), Jason Travi (Little Fork), Bernhard Mairinger (BierBeisl), Greg Daniels (Haven Gastropub), and Paul Buchanan (Primal Alchemy).

Last year each chef created two small plates for guests to enjoy.

This year will also feature the return of a photo booth to capture memories at the event.

When Garcia was asked last year if the Sausage Fest will return in 2013, he joked he didn’t have much choice in the matter.

“I’ve talked to a lot of people, they say ‘well, when you have it next year…’ So I think it’s already been booked for me,” he laughed.

Tickets are $49 per person. Attendees must be 21 and older. To purchase tickets visit figsantamonica.com.
