Join TV and radio personality Carson Daly and the American Red Cross of Santa Monica for the “Prepare or Beware Halloween Youth Run and Preparedness Fair.”
It will be held this Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 am to 2 pm.
Dress up in your spookiest costume and head over to Beach Lot 1 by the Santa Monica Pier (1550 Pacific Coast Highway, Santa Monica) for a day of excitement, learning, and Halloween fun.
In an effort to make Santa Monica a more disaster-prepared community, join the Red Cross by participating in several hands-on activities at the event:
• 1.5K Fun Run
• a “build-your-own” emergency kit workshop
• the Shakey Quakey earthquake simulator
• hands-only CPR training
• pet CPR demonstrations
• “spooktacular” arts and crafts
• face painting
• Halloween costume contest, with prizes for the best costumes
Registration for the run starts at 9 am and consists of a $10 donation to the American Red Cross. Participants are asked to pre-register at www.RedCross.org/SantaMonica.
The run start time is 10 am. The Preparedness Fair will follow the run and the Halloween Costume Contest is at 11 am.
Children under 16 are required to bring a parents or adult guardian along.
Runners and attendees are encouraged to wear a costume. Awards will be given by Carson Daly for best overall female and male costume.
The American Red Cross of Santa Monica is a publicly supported, 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation that provides health and safety education, youth services, blood services, CPR and first aid training, disaster awareness, and disaster relief efforts.
