A 19-year-old homeless man was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 14 after stealing a scarf and some socks from two stores at Santa Monica Place then trying to sell them to people who were passing by.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were requested to attend the 300 block of Broadway at 3 pm on this day concerning a theft subject who had allegedly stolen some items from two separate stores in Santa Monica Place.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with a pair of store loss prevention agents who told them that they had seen this man enter Ted Baker London (Ted Baker London is a British clothing retail company) and take a scarf.
The man then allegedly went into Kitson (Kitson is an upmarket department store chain and their flagship store in Los Angeles is a well known place for celebrity spotting, especially by paparazzi, and perhaps also for shoplifters?) and stole a pair of socks.
The man was followed out of Santa Monica Place by the store loss prevention agents, and apprehended as he was attempting to sell the items to various citizens who were passing by.
The store loss prevention agents had then retrieved the merchandise and called the police.
The officers arrested this man and he was charged with theft.
Bail was set at $25,000.
