Santa Monica High School Basketball Team Rolls In El Segundo Tournament: Vikings win three of four games

After that stinging 19-point defeat to Mira Costa, the Santa Monica boys basketball team responded with successive wins against a couple tough opponents to conclude the Vikings’ run at the El Segundo Tournament. Mira Costa would go on to win the tournament after dispatching Crossroads in the finale.

Samohi, on the other hand, had a rather successful trip at the El Segundo Tournament, reeling off wins against Compton Centennial, El Segundo and Palos Verdes. The Vikings defeated Centennial in their first game, 51-31, before losing to the Mustangs. However, the Vikings rebound with a 72-53 win against the host team.

Samohi used point advantages in the first (19-13) and third (26-13) quarters to beat El Segundo. Against Palos Verdes, the Vikings took control of the game early to secure their fifth (5-3) win of the season. Samohi outscored Palos Verdes 17-2 in the first quarter enroute to a 69-51 win.
