A 30-year-old man was arrested on the Santa Monica Pier on Saturday, Jan. 11 after punching a restaurant manager in the face who refused him service of alcohol.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the popular seafood restaurant located on the Santa Monica Pier known as Bubba Gump Shrimp Company at 1:50 pm on this day in order to investigate an assault.
When the officers arrived at the eatery they spoke with the manager who told them that there had been an altercation involving the suspect when, after ordering a beer, the suspect produced a damaged drivers’ license as identification that was subsequently determined to be of a quality that could not be relied upon as valid evidence of date of birth.
The suspect, had, after being refused service for the aforementioned reason, allegedly punched the manager of the restaurant in the face.
The manager told the officers that this man was at that time known to be drinking at another restaurant on the pier, so the officers went to that location to continue their investigation.
When they arrived they did indeed find the alleged assailant at the bar and the officers noticed that he was very, very drunk.
In fact, they determined that he was so drunk that he could not care for himself.
The manager of Bubba Gump Shrimp Company was desirous of prosecution for the assault so this 30-year-old man (address unavailable) who was arrested and charged with assault, public intoxication, and a no-bail warrant. Bail was not granted.
