Santa Monica police arrested a 21-year-old Santa Monica woman on Saturday, April 19 who had fled a Rite-Aid store with $195 of merchandise.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to the 1300 block of Santa Monica Boulevard at 2:30 pm on this day in order to assist a Rite-Aid Loss Prevention Agent who was chasing after a female theft suspect.
When the officers arrived the Loss Prevention Agent pointed them in the direction of this suspect and they gave chase.
The officers attempted to detain this woman, but she was non-compliant and continued her attempts to escape.
The officers persevered and eventually caught the woman and placed her under arrest.
The officers retrieved stolen merchandise valued at $195 that the suspect had dropped during the chase.
The officers subsequently arrested this Santa Monica woman and she was charged with petty theft with a prior conviction and resisting police officers in the execution of their duty.
Bail was set at $20,000.
