Santa Monica Police Arrest Drug Addict For Possessing Meth, Pipe:

A self-confessed drug addict was arrested on Thursday, June 5 after being found possessing meth and a pipe to smoke it.

Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department, who were on routine patrol in the 1100 block of Pico Boulevard, observed a man standing in front of the Holiday Motel, located at 1102 Pico Boulevard, at 3:43 pm on this day.

The officers’ police training instinctively caused them to suspect that this individual was under the influence of drugs because of his profuse sweating, the smacking of his lips together repeatedly, and his inability to stand still.

The officers stopped their vehicle, exited, and approached the man.

The officers then asked this man if he was “high right now,” to which the man responded, “I am an addict.”

The officers assumed that this could suggest that he was indeed under the influence of a narcotic of some kind.

The man told the officers that he was not in possession of any drugs, but after the man had consented to a search, the officers discovered a substance that appeared to be methamphetamine in crystal form, and a pipe of the type commonly used to smoke said illegal substance.

The officers arrested this 28-year-old homeless man and he was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail was set at $10,000.
