The Santa Monica Police Officers’ Association and Santa Monica Firefighters, Local 1109 has announced its three endorsements for City Council: Pam O’Connor, Kevin McKeown, and Frank Gruber.
“Santa Monica City Council members Pam O’Connor and Kevin McKeown have consistent track records of voting for issues that favor community safety and ensure the highest quality of emergency services,” read a joint statement from the two groups. “This year, both Council Members voted to increase both Police and Fire Department staffing to safely provide emergency services during the heavily attended Pier Twilight Concert Series. With the help of their leadership, Santa Monica is experiencing historically low crime rates even as the daytime population of Santa Monica continues to increase.”
The statement said Gruber was also committed to keeping Santa Monica residents safe.
“He is devoted to providing SMPD the tools and resources necessary to protect the community,” the statement read. “Frank Gruber is also dedicated to maintaining the level of service the Santa Monica Fire Department provides as it faces an increasing call volume and expanding scope of emergencies.”
