Global clothing retailer UNIQLO has announced it will open a permanent store at Santa Monica Place in the spring of 2015. The store will house the brand’s full assortment of high-quality, functional apparel for people of all ages.
The announcement comes following the success of the UNIQLO pop-up shop at Santa Monica Place, which opened in July 2014 and will remain open throughout the holiday season.
The new approximately 10,000 square foot location will anchor the second level, taking advantage of the migration of shoppers heading to the top-level ArcLight Theatres set to open in fall 2015.
“Given the success of our pop-up store and the strong welcome from customers, this was the perfect next step,” said Larry Meyer, CEO of UNIQLO USA. “We’re thrilled to build a permanent home in Santa Monica Place adjacent to Third Street Promenade to better serve our fans from all over the greater Los Angeles area.”
Macerich (the owner of Santa Monica Place) Chairman/CEO Art Coppola said Santa Monica Place continues to be a powerful draw for top retail brands and shoppers from around the corner and around the globe.
“Located in an exceptional trade area – this iconic property continues to attract some of the most coveted retail names,” Coppola said. “We are very pleased to add UNIQLO to our mix, especially after such exciting brand visibility on the courts at the US Open.”
UNIQLO is currently recruiting for positions at all levels for the Santa Monica store and other stores in Southern California.
