A 46-year-old Santa Monica man was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 8 after spitting on a father who was protecting his children from this belligerent and possibly violent human.
Officers of the Santa Monica Police Department were called out to Ozone Park, located on Ozone Avenue in Santa Monica, at 11 am on this day in order to respond to a report of an assault.
Upon arrival the officers spoke with the victim who told them what had happened.
Apparently, the victim had been enjoying the swings in the playground area with his two children when the suspect, who appeared homeless, stood behind the victim’s son who was playing on the public swing set.
As the son swung on the swing, the son accidentally bumped into the suspect and knocked him to the ground.
The suspect then arose and became belligerent, cursing at the children and other parents in the play area.
The victim then stood between the suspect and his children in order to protect them. It was at this point the suspect spat at the victim.
The suspect then fled from the area but the officers were soon able to track him down and arrest this man and he was charged with assault.
Bail was set at $20,000.
