The discovery of a man’s body in an apartment building in Westwood was being treated as a suspected suicide, police said today.

The man was identified Samuel Oliver, 21, Coroner’s Lt. David Smith said. The cause of his death has not been determined, Smith said.

Oliver’s body was found after firefighters responded to a structure fire call in the 600 block of Kelton Avenue at 1:30 a.m., a witness said.

Los Angeles Police Sgt. Brian Cook said the death was being investigated as a suicide.

Police and fire personnel remained at the scene, according to Cook, but he would not say if any fire damage had been found.
