Santa Monica Has Heart & More:

By Nat Trives

As many of you know I have lived my entire life in service of Santa Monica. I believe in the people of Santa Monica and I am so touched by the generosity of spirit and the compassion I see every day here in my hometown.

Having lived in Santa Monica since 1949, I have seen a lot of change, but the people of Santa Monica continue to inspire me with their wisdom and their heart. I recently celebrated by 80th birthday on Dec. 9 and many of you may know that I celebrated with about 260 of my closest friends at Pacific Park.

The purpose of the “party” was to raise money for the 30 non-profits that I have supported over the years in Santa Monica.

We raised over $83,000 – now that is a lot of heart! But it does not surprise me, I know so many of you and have been touched by how much you care.

Whether it is kids who are going to school without books and supplies, families that are going without a meal, homeless folks who need a place to sleep and job training… the people of Santa Monica step up and care.

To celebrate my 80th year I wanted to do something special for all those non-profits that do so much good.

So I called upon my friends to foot the bill for the party so that every donation made went directly to the no-profits in town. So far we raised $83,000 but I don’t want to stop there. I am hoping we can reach $100,000!

Please consider sending in your check – designate the charity of your choice or leave it up to me and I will choose one of the great organizations that I know so well.

Now is the time to do it! It is the end of the year and we are all thinking about tax time.

It is also the time when we realize how fortunate we have been – our families, our lives, and the wonderful city in which we live. So why not dig deep and make a contribution. Here is my website: www.mrsantamonica.com. Please visit the site and make a contribution. I want to report back in January 2015 to the city with heart that we reached $100,000. That will make this a birthday to remember!
