Santa Monica Tech Award Nomination Deadline Extended To Jan. 2:

The Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce has extended the nomination deadline for its first-ever Tech Startup Award to Friday, Jan. 2. This award will honor one Santa Monica-based technology company that is innovative, inspiring, and has a viable plan for growth. All tech startups in the city are welcome to apply.

The winner, which will be selected by a panel of tech community and financing leaders, will receive a year-long Entrepreneur Membership to the Los Angeles Venture Association, free class and workshop credits from General Assembly, and mentoring and training opportunities from Pay it Forward Labs & Expert DOJO.

Brian MacMahon, Chief Community Officer of Pay it Forward Labs & Expert DOJO, said starting a business can be difficult, adding each business owner needs all the help and community support they can find.

“It’s just so encouraging to see the Santa Monica Chamber of Commerce driving that support by highlighting those pioneering entrepreneurs who make the tough choices to mould our tomorrow,” MacMahon said. “This award from the Chamber will not only shine a spotlight on the winning entrepreneur but also send a message to every new business owner out there that we appreciate what you are doing and want you to succeed here in Santa Monica.”

The honor will be announced at the Chamber’s 2015 State of the City breakfast on Jan. 20, 2015 at the SGI Auditorium, in downtown Santa Monica.

At this event, the winner and two finalists will gain exposure to more than 500 business and civic leaders, as well as potential investors, and clients. The winner will receive valuable mentoring services from General Assembly, and mentoring opportunities from Expert DOJO members on topics ranging from planning to funding.

Nominations are due at end of business on Jan. 2, 2015. The only requirements are that the company be based in Santa Monica and that a representative be able to attend the event on Jan. 20. Companies are welcome to self-nominate.
